The University of Iowa Honorary Degree Selection Committee seeks nominations for the 2026-2027 academic year. These prestigious awards may be conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary achievements in any of the following areas: scholarship, education, artistic creation, social activism, human rights, innovation or invention beneficial to society, or humanitarian outreach. 

Nominations where philanthropy or the possibility of future endowments are the main focus will not be considered. Please note: this award is not conferred posthumously.

Nomination materials must be submitted as a single, bookmarked PDF to provost-office@uiowa.edu no later than Friday, May 1, 2026, and must include:

• a one- to two-page statement or letter outlining the nominee's achievements.
• four letters of support, at least two of which must come from active faculty members of the appropriate college. Letters of support should be limited to two pages each.
